Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Android development. Strong knowledge of Java and Kotlin is required, as is proficiency in Android Studio and familiarity with Android components such as Services, Providers, Activities, Fragments, and threading. Experience with BT/BLE APIs is also necessary, and English proficiency is essential. Experience with Jetpack Compose would be a plus.
The Android Software Engineer will be responsible for creating and executing designs for software components within a larger project, mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced Software Engineers, collaborating through peer code reviews, estimating effort, evaluating new technologies, and performing technical root cause analysis to outline corrective actions. They will also contribute to the development of Garmin Connect Mobile, a complex fitness and outdoor companion app, and participate in the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the existing feature set.
